Madam Abena Kwallah, Western Regional Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has donated one sewing machine each and GH¢ 1,100 to 11 girls to enable them to undergo apprenticeship in dressmaking and designing.
The cost of the machines and cash totaling GH¢2,700 was a personal donation from Madam Kwallah to support the vulnerable in society.
At the presentation ceremony at Takoradi at the weekend, Madam Kwallah said her vision was to support the needy and vulnerable, particularly unemployed young girls to enable them to undertake income generating ventures.
She said it was only when girls were empowered to earn good income that they could support their families and also lead decent lives.
Madam Kwallah said the government would pursue its objective to create jobs and enhance opportunities for the private sector to grow.
She urged women to take up the challenge brought about by the government's policy to support those in the micro and small-scale business sectors by becoming more creative and innovative in their vocations.
Madam Kwallah advised the beneficiaries to be God fearing and avoid promiscuous and ostentatious life styles.
Nana Owusu Ankomah, NPP Regional Chairman called on party faithful to intensify their campaign to achieve a resounding victory in the forthcoming elections.
He advised women leaders within the rank and file to promote unity and solidarity among NPP supporters and sympathisers.
