The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection Lariba Zuweira Abudu has lost her bid to contest the Walewale Constituency seat in the 2024 election.
She is one of the 28 incumbent MPs who lost their candidacy to new aspirants.
Madam Lariba lost to Dr. Kabiru Tia Mahama. Dr Mahama won the Walewale parliamentary ticket with 343 votes while the Gender Minister lost with 338 votes.
The other contenders, Tahir Sahaman and Jandow Mahama polled 145 and 1 vote respectively.
The total vote count was 829 with only 2 rejected ballots.
Madam Lariba has been in parliament for only a term after taking the seat from Dr. Sagre Bambangi in 2020.
