A UK-based youth activist of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Iddrisu Musa Superior has won the party’s parliamentary primary, promising to unseat the incumbent NDC MP for Tamale Central in the 2012 elections.
Musah Superior, who was vetted via the internet on skype, said he used the power of the internet to canvass for votes through twitter and on facebook, thus pointing out to delegates his vision and aspirations for the constituency.
He said his victory was an absolute awakening to Ghanaian politics.
“We are in a global village and wherever you are, you are still part of the global village,“ he said.
“I won the election based on a framework of smart and ambitious strategy in my constituency, I have worked so hard from afar, speaking to people who matter in the constituency,” he added.
Mr. Superior also reiterated that what the NPP needs in Northern Ghana is a candidate who can go out of the NPP comfort zone.
Speaking to Dzifa Bampoh on Joy Fm’s coverage of the NPP parliamentary primaries, Musa Superior promised to come back home to embark on an ambitious campaign project to ensure that the NDC is unseated in the 2012 elections.
Musa superior polled 278 votes to win the NPP parliament primaries ticket in the Tamale Central constituency with Iddrisu Sunday and Mohammed Ishmael polling 129 and 38 votes respectively.
