Dr Farouk Aliu Mahama, former Member of Parliament for Yendi, has expressed confidence that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Vice President of Ghana and 2024 NPP presidential candidate, is on track for a “massive victory” in the party’s upcoming flagbearer contest.
He made the remarks on JoyNews’ AM show on Wednesday, January 21, highlighting Dr Bawumia’s broad support across the country.
“Dr Bawumia has consistently demonstrated leadership, vision, and a connection with the grassroots,” Farouk Aliu Mahama said.
“Delegates from every region have shown overwhelming enthusiasm for his candidacy. It is clear that he is the choice of the majority, and I am confident he will win convincingly.”
He attributed Dr Bawumia’s popularity to his track record as former Vice President and his forward-looking policy proposals.
“People see in him not only a capable administrator but also a visionary leader. His plans for economic growth, digital transformation, and youth empowerment resonate with party members and ordinary Ghanaians alike,” Farouk Aliu Mahama explained.
Commenting on the upcoming NPP primaries, he urged delegates to rally behind experienced and competent leadership.
“This is a critical moment for our party. We need unity and a candidate who can lead us to victory in 2028. Dr Bawumia is that candidate—his experience, discipline, and dedication make him the clear frontrunner,” he said.
Farouk Aliu Mahama concluded by calling on all party members to participate actively in the selection process.
“I encourage every delegate to make an informed choice, one that will ensure the party remains strong and competitive. With Dr Bawumia at the helm, I am confident the NPP will secure a decisive victory,” he added.
