The Ashanti Regional branch of the New Patriotic Party has suspended its Regional Organizer indefinitely for alleged comments that can create confusion and disunity within the party.
Kennedy Kankam is reported to have suggested on a local radio station that leading members of the party are behind recent agitation for prosecution of former government officials.
NPP Regional Secretary, Sam Pyne, confirmed the suspension to Luv FM in Kumasi.
He says the decision was based on a preliminary investigation by the party’s Disciplinary Committee, following a complaint by NPP founding member, George Aysisi Boateng.
Mr. Pyne says a letter on the suspension is due to be delivered to Mr. Kankam.
However, the embattled Regional Organizer has rubbished the purported action, describing it as a ploy by the Regional Chairman and Secretary to pursue hidden agenda.
