Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Flag Bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Election 2008, has declared that the Party would make history on January 7 2009 when it would hand over power to itself.
He said the Party's last national delegates' congress to elect a flag bearer was the strongest and most fearful in its history and as such, people thought there would be a split after the congress.
Nana Akufo-Addo was addressing party executives, delegates and supporters in Tamale on Tuesday as part of his nation-wide tour to thank the delegates and supporters of the Party for electing him as the flag bearer.
Mr Yaw Osafo-Maafo; Mr Dan Bowte and Mr Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, all presidential aspirants who contested against Nana Akufo-Addo, and Hajia Alima Mahama the Minister of Women and Children's Affairs were in the NPP flag bearers entourage.
He said those, who speculated that the Party would break up had, however, been put to shame because all the divisions within the Party after the congress no longer existed and they were more united than ever.
He said the warm receptions he had so far received in Sunyani in the Brong-Ahafo Region and Wa in the Upper West Region were signals that come December 2008 he would win the elections to become the next President of Ghana.
The NPP flag bearer appealed for cooperation between the Party and the Government.
Nana Akufo-Addo reminded the Party's supporters that the voter's register would be opened in March 2008 and urged all eligible members of the Party to go out in their numbers to register.
Alhaji Mustapha Ali Idris, Northern Regional Minister, called for unity within the Party and urged its foot soldiers to intensify their efforts at wooing more people into it.
The Former Presidential Aspirants emphasised on the need for unity and polling of resources to enable the Party to make an emphatic win in the Elections.
Earlier on in the day Nana Akufo-Addo paid a courtesy call on the Acting Chief Imam of the Tamale Central Mosque, Alhaji Abudul Salam Abubakari to ask for their prayers and guidance.
