The campaign team of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of engaging in politics of intimidation, violence in the run up to the December 28 presidential run-off.The chairman of Nana Akufo-Addo’s campaign, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, at a press conference in Accra of Friday catalogued a series of intimidating and violent incidence allegedly perpetuated by NDC functionaries across the country. He said the incidences are reminiscent of events in 1979 and 1981 when former President Jerry John Rawlings staged his coup d’etat.“All over the country, elections have just ended and votes were being counted, already there were whispers of hit list with prominent citizens and men of God, expanding Nsawam Prison and what would be done to who for not supporting or voting for the National Democratic Congress,” Mr Obetsebi-Lamptey said. However, the deputy general secretary of the NDC, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, has described the allegations as ridiculous.“This is childish, this game that if you are guilty or you want to do something you go and accuse your opponent first of doing it, we have gone far beyond that; Ghanaians are very very discerning, they (NPP) have not learnt enough lessons from 7th December, they are going to learn greater lessons come 28.”Listened to Obetsebi-Lamptey and Afriyie Ankrah in the above attached audio
