Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, Deputy Minister of the Interior at the weekend pledged that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would never use unorthodox means to win elections as being perceived by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He pointed out that the ruling party would work hard and offer good governance to the people to win the 2008 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.
Mr Agyemang-Manu made the pledge when addressing the Annual General meeting of University Education, Winneba (UEW) branch of Tertiary Education Students Confederacy (TESCON) of NPP at Winneba.
He said Government had stabilized the economy because of its prudent and pragmatic policies and programmes.
Mr Agyemang-Manu noted that Ghana would attain the middle-income status in 2010 and urged the students to work hard to retain the party in 2008.
The Deputy Interior Minister said Government would continue to pursue good governance, Rule of law and respect for human rights to sustain democracy in the country.
He said after the election of the Party's Presidential Candidate in December this year, it would remain focused and support the candidate to win the 2008 elections.
Alex Afenyo Markin, Presiding Member of Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly, asked the students to come out with effective strategies that would help them to establish their private businesses instead of relying on the Government.
Samuel Okyere-Sarpong, UEW TESCON President urged the Government to accelerate measures that would solve the energy crisis currently facing the nation.
He said the situation had affected their studies at the various campuses and could create problems for them in future.
