But for a late intervention by constituency executives in Zebilla Constituency in the Upper East Region, the New Patriotic Party office would have been reduced to ashes.
This was confirmed by a member of some aggrieved delegates, Nicholas Adokor who accused national executives of the party of attempting to impose a Parliamentary candidate on the constituents.
The delegates gave a three day ultimatum for their favourite, Dr. Frank Fuseini Adongo to be acclaimed by the party as candidate of the constituency or the party office will be no more or rather be turned into ashes.
With the three days elapsing on Monday, the angry delegates reportedly bought gallons of petrol in readiness to carry out their threat.
Nicholas Adokor told Joy News’ Dzifah Bampoh he is aware it is an offence to burn a private property but added once the party executives are ready to violate its own constitution by imposing a candidate on them, they have a right to use all means including the burning of the party office to register their protest.
He said they only had to back down after discussions with the constituency chairman and organizer.
