The race for the Greater Accra Regional Championship title in the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) is officially underway, and it promises to be a thrilling journey.
With thirteen schools battling it out for the prestigious title, the opening contest set the tone for what lies ahead.
The first contest of the championship featured Ghana Lebanon Islamic School, Chemu Senior High Technical School, Labone Senior High School, and Ashaiman Senior High School. Right from the beginning, it was clear that Chemu and Labone had come prepared, locking horns in a spirited and competitive first round.
Both schools ended the round tied at 21 points, while Ashaiman SHS followed with 13 points. Ghana Lebanon Islamic School had a slow start, finishing the round with just 3 points.

Round two saw Chemu SHTS asserting its dominance in the speed race. With swift and confident responses, they surged ahead, widening the gap between themselves and their competitors.
In the third round the true or false segment all schools put up a strong fight. Ashaiman SHS stood out by answering all their questions correctly, while the other schools faltered slightly.
By the end of the round, Chemu SHTS had extended their lead to 43 points. Ashaiman SHS moved up impressively to 30 points, Labone SHS followed closely with 29 points, and Ghana Lebanon Islamic School remained at 4 points.

The final round, which featured the much-anticipated riddles, brought a remarkable showing from Labone SHS. They answered all their riddle questions correctly, drawing admiration from the audience. However, their performance, while commendable, was not enough to close the gap that Chemu had already built.
When the contest concluded, Chemu SHTS stood tall as winners with 43 points, earning the first qualification slot for the next stage of the Greater Accra Regional Championship.
It was a brilliant start to what promises to be a charged and exciting competition, with more schools set to take the stage in the coming days.
