Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary have powered their way into the semifinals of the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) after an impressive performance that left no room for doubt.
In what many described as a “textbook display of composure and precision,” the boys from Koforidua outclassed Mpraeso SHS and Swedru Secondary Technical School to book their place in the next stage of the competition.
At the end of five thrilling rounds, Pojoss sealed victory with 53 points, comfortably ahead of Mpraeso SHS’s 30 and Swedru Sec Tech’s 21.

The Koforidua-based school showed dominance from the start, maintaining their lead through the problem of the day and consolidating it with a strong final round performance that sent their supporters into wild celebrations.
With this victory, Pope John SHS & Minor Seminary now join other top contenders, including Mfantsipim School, Mankranso SHS, Amaniampong and GSTS in the race to the semifinals where the competition promises to get even tougher.
The boys say they are not just here to participate but to make a bold statement and if their current form is anything to go by, the journey to the NSMQ grand finale could get very interesting.
