A teacher with the Kumasi Anglican SHS believes that no girls’ school can win the ongoing National Science and Maths Quiz.

According to Mr. Eric Kwaku Yeboah, this is because the nature of competition does not favour the females.

He explained that though the girls are good, they are almost always unable to handle the pressure from the competition, especially segments requiring swift responses.

“It does not favour the ladies because the girls are trained to pass WASSCE,” Mr. Yeboah told Joy News.

According to him, this explains why a girls’ school has never emerged winners of the competition for the last 26 years. 

The National Science and Maths Quiz has had only boys’ schools and a mixed school as winners since it began. The ladies are therefore hoping that for this year’s competition, a girls’ school will emerge victorious. 

This is notwithstanding the fact that two of the strongest girls’-school contenders, have been eliminated.

Archbishop Porters SHS was eliminated by Sekondi-based St John’s School and Holy Child School suffered at the hands of Kumasi Academy Wednesday morning.

Aburi Girls, Wesley Girls’ SHS, Krobo Girls and  St Louis SHS are still keeping the hope alive. 

Mr. Eric Yeboah is highly optimistic about Thursday’s competition as he believes Kumasi Academy and Adisadel College will definitely win their respective competitions.

“Kumasi academy is winning, the probability for them to win is one, I’m very certain,” he said

Today’s scheduled schools to compete are as follow:

Holy Child School, Kumasi Academy and Anlo SHS

Ghana SHS, Tamale, Armed Forces SHTS and New Juabeng SHS

Adisadel College, Ghanata SHS and Nsutaman SHS.
