Residents of Nsukwao, a suburb of Koforidua in the Eastern Region are yet to receive relief items 24-hours after torrential rains submerged homes and destroyed their properties.
Almost the entire community was flooded on Sunday after a 30-minute downpour which reportedly killed one person.

The deceased, a woman said to be in her late 40s, was returning home from church together with three others in a taxi when the incident happened.
The other occupants were rescued by some members of the community.
Joy News correspondent Maxwell Kudekor has been to the community and reports that the residents who are drying out the very few items they have salvaged from the floods are yet to receive help.

On Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Maxwell had reported that the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) was preparing to distribute some relief items to the victims.
But as at midday, no relief item has been distributed.
Maxwell says officials of NADMO have been in the community to assess the extent of damage, which will determine the kind of relief to be given to the residents.

However, due to the gravity of the situation, the officials are yet to conclude the assessment process.
They told Maxwell they will begin the distribution of the items tomorrow once the assessment is completed.
