The number of e-zwich cardholders increased by 4.52% to 3,625,543 in 2022 from 3,468,894 in 2021, the Bank of Ghana’s Payment Systems Oversight Annual Report 2022 has revealed.
The total volume of e-zwich transactions, however, declined by 21.60% to 6,159,465, while total value of transactions increased by 85.10% to ¢14.648 billion.
The report also disclosed that gh-linkTM platform recorded a total volume of 1,018,456 transactions with a value of ¢551.30 million compared with a total volume of 889,266 with a value of ¢427.30 million in 2021.
Automated Teller Machines (ATM) transactions continued to dominate on the gh-linkTM platform and constituted 99.25% of the transactions.
In 2022, GhIPSS Instant Pay (GIP) recorded a total volume of 76,483,008 transactions with a value of ¢58.698.07 billion compared with 37,672,319 and ¢31.357 billion respectively in 2021.
This showed an increase of 103.02% in volumes of transactions and 87.19% in values of transactions in 2022.
