The Volta Regional Minister, Mr Joseph Amenowode, at the weekend said plans were far advanced towards the establishment of a nursing training college at the northern part of the region.
He said the institution is to bring healthcare delivery and education closer to people in that part of the Region.
Mr Amenowode said this when he paid a courtesy call on Nana Mprah Besemunah, Krachiwura as part of his five-day tour of the northern part of the Region.
He noted that the few nursing training colleges in the Region were all located at the south, several kilometres away from the north.
Mr Amenowode observed that the situation accounted for the inability of people there to access timely healthcare in view of the few health facilities and few health practitioners, and expressed the hope that with the establishment of that college, things would changed for the better.
"We hope with the establishment of such an institution, healthcare delivery and accessibility would improve in the Region and the north in particular with improvement in patient/nurse ratio," he said.
Nana Mprah Besemunah, Krachiwura, commended government for the foresight and expressed the hope that things would worked out well to improve the quality of life of the people in the area.
He appealed to government to work on the Krachi township roads and "fast track" Kpando-Krachi road and Krachi-Dambai road.
