Eastern Regional Co-ordinator of the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) Joshua Atta Mensah has warned that his office will not hesitate to sack any beneficiary who fails to adhere to the laid down rules and regulations of the Programme.
The programme aims at reducing unemployment and some beneficiaries who allegedly got enrolled in the programme on the wings of some political bigwigs, are reported to disregard rules and regulations that govern it.
The situation Mr. Atta Mensah indicated, can defeat the purpose of the Programme if not addressed with the seriousness it deserved, hence the decision to expel those disobedient ones to instill sanity, law and order.
Addressing beneficiaries in the Lower Manya Krobo District, Mr. Attah Mensah without mincing words said “any person or group of persons, who decide to play truancy with the programme, would forfeit his or her allowance”.
According to him, even though the programme was undergoing some challenges, that should not give premise to beneficiaries to play truant since such an attitude will not help address the situation but rather deepen it.
He also warned District Coordinators to desist from the habit of deducting money from the beneficiaries’ monthly allowances since it was illegal.
