Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has charged Ghanaians to make Africa proud by once again pulling off peaceful polls on Friday.
Mr Obasanjo, who leads an ECOWAS observer mission to Ghana said there was no reason why Ghana, seen as a bright spot on a volatile region, could not come out of the polls unscathed.
The delegation first met with former President John Agyekum Kufuor and later former President Jerry Rawlings.
At the meeting with Mr Rawlings, the former Nigerian President said Ghana has proven herself an enduring democracy, having organised five peaceful elections in a row.
On his part, Mr. Rawlings said there was the need for the candidates in Friday's polls to stay true to their pledge to vigorously fight corruption should they win the elections.
He expressed worry over what he claimed were clandestine plans by some Members of Parliament (MPs) to use violence to retain their seats.
According to him, some NDC MPs including Alfred Agbesi Woyome’s brother have lost the moral high ground and are bent on using violence to continue hanging on to their seats, reports Citifmonline.
