The lingering heightened anticipation for the launch of Africa’s biggest and most revered DJ event, Guinness Ghana DJ Awards powered by Smirnoff, has finally been truncated.
It is finally happening - the launch date for the 2025 edition has been disclosed by its organizers, Merqury Republic. The unveiling happened on Ghana’s number one entertainment radio station, Hitz FM, last Wednesday.
According to Creative Director Merqury Quaye, the 2025 Guinness Ghana DJ Awards will be launched on Saturday, 12th July 2025 at Luna Rooftop Bar, Airport City, Accra.
“I am so looking forward to it, and I think this year, DJs have really put in a lot of work and the DJ culture is really looking good”, Merqury remarked, adding that a lot of prizes will be up for grabs while major discoveries will be made during this year’s campaign.
His words underscore the theme for the 13th edition of the Guinness Ghana DJ Awards – Shake the Floor – which seeks to highlight the DJs’ role as more than just a music selector but a cultural curator with the unique capabilities of uplifting communities through sound and energy.
Sponsored by the nation’s leading total beverage company, Guinness Ghana and powered by Smirnoff, the July 12 launch will serve as the curtain raiser for a series of activities lined up in the buildup to the main event on November 29, 2025 at the Palms Convention Center. Paramount on the tall list are the Pub Fest, Ladies Concert, and Nominees Jam. Other equally relevant activities and events include the television series dubbed Road to Guinness Ghana DJ Awards which airs on Joy Prime, a nationwide tour and the Ghana DJ Clinic which provides in-depth and priceless education to DJs and other stakeholders in the music fraternity.

Organizers say about a dozen celebrated DJs and artistes have already been confirmed for performances on the night, waiting to be outdoored at the launch. Also, the 2025 edition will place priority on a sound clash (reggae DJ battle) between two of Ghana’s revered sound clash groups, a feature that is bound to send the auditorium into a total frenzy due to its Jamaican music culture roots.
The journey to shake the floor with Guinness Ghana DJ Awards officially begins on July 12 2025.
