Hundreds of football fans on Sunday night poured onto the streets of the Cape Coast Municipality after the referee blew his last whistle to signify Ghana Black Stars' 2-1 victory over the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the quarterfinals of the ongoing 26th MTN Africa Cup of Nations Tournament.
There was pandemonium as drivers of commercial and private vehicles honked amidst drumming, dancing and gymnastic display by jubilant fans including women, children and the disabled.
Drinking bars and entertainment spots were filed to capacity with jubilant supporters and fans, with some of the supporters going on a carnival through the principal streets of the Municipality as they sang and danced amidst shouts of "Junior Agogo is a Saviour, Ghana must go high" to mark the spectacular victory over the Nigerians.
Nana Yaw, a soccer fan, commended the Black Stars for the good work done and described the match as a wonderful one and appealed to Ghanaians to continue to pray for and support the Stars until they won the ultimate Cup.
He said the victory of the Stars showed that God had really listened to the prayers of Ghanaians and that if the Stars continued to play the way they did, they would surely lift the cup.
