Almost a month after being honoured with the Kente Award, the topmost award at the Sunshine Art and Music Awards (SAMA 2006) as the musician of the year, the popular highlife singer, Oheneba Kissi, has again been honoured for his tremendous contribution to the promotion of highlife music in the country.This time the award came from the Okwahu Youngsters Club and the Okwahu Traditional Council.The award ceremony, the third of its kind organised by the Okwahu Youngsters Club in collaboration with the Okwahu Traditional Council, was aimed at honouring citizens of Okwahu and thereby encouraging the youth to work hard and excel as those honoured.Other musicians honoured were Nana Ampadu I, Kojo Antwi, Adane Best, Obour, J.A. Adofo, George Jaraah, Samuel Owusu and Tweneboah Kodua. The Awards Night, first instituted in 1991 at Mpraeso, aims at recognising citizens who had for years selflessly contributed to the progress of Okwahuman in particular and the country in general.Therefore others who had excelled in industry such as Mr. Ernest Bediako, the Chief Executive Officer CEO of Ernest Chemists, Mr. Seth Agyei Baah, CEO of Shaba Enterprise and Mr. Agyare Ankomah, CEO of Metallex Group, were also honoured.In the field of journalism, the Acting Director-General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Mr. Yaw Owusu Addo, Agya Abrefa and Mr. Edward Faakye, the veteran broadcaster of Peace FM and Akosua Safoa Kantimpo of Adom FM were honoured.In politics, Paapa Owusu Ankomah, the Minister of Education, Science and Sports and Mr. Kwadwo Afram Asiedu, a deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and PSI were recognised.In his address as the guest speaker, the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Freddie Blay praised the organisers of the event and gave the assurance that he would urge the people in his area to emulate their wonderful example.Mirror
