Deputy Minister of Information, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa on Thursday December 1st 2011 ended all doubts about his desire to represent the people of North Tongu in the 2013 Parliament of Ghana when he quietly picked his nomination form at the North Tongu NDC constituency office in Juapong.Though the process lasted a few minutes, news of the Deputy Minister’s presence in the Constituency soon spread like wild fire with many people rushing out of their homes, shops and other places to catch a glimpse of Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.In a brief address, Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa thanked the people of North Tongu for their overwhelming support and assured them that he was answering their call for him to represent them in Parliament not as an opportunity to enrich his CV or merely be an office occupant but as a call to service to ensure the collective improvement in the living conditions of all residents of North Tongu.He added that it was clear the people of North Tongu are looking for a dynamic, humble, approachable, development-oriented modern leader who will leave behind concrete legacies for future generations and asserted that “that time and that leader has come.”He pledged to run a campaign of issues focusing on the great potential of the constituency – Agriculture - to feed the entire nation be it in crops, livestock or fish farming, in industry. He said the Juapong Textile Factory and the Aveyime Rice Project if given strategic direction can employ many youth even beyond the shores of North Tongu.He appealed for unity and love towards all emphasizing that this was a family contest and that none of the other seven aspirants should be seen as enemies. He enjoined all his supporters to follow his example in ignoring all provocations and attacks because this was not a contest about who is good at launching attacks but a contest for a visionary and competent MP who will make all those associated to North Tongu proud.
