Deputy Education Minister designate, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has stated that before engaging in active politics, he used to be an ardent preacher, who sometimes preached in buses to win souls for Christ. The former deputy Minister for Information, recounted his days at the Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School (PRESEC) where he was a Vice-President of the Scripture Union Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa made the above revelations today when he appeared before the Appointments Committee of Parliamentary. "I used to go for dawn broadcasting, stand in the bus and preach...one time wild dogs chased me in the Dansoman keep fit area because the owner was not enthused by my preaching". He observed: "I don't joke with my Christianity and the great commission to win souls for Christ". The outspoken NDC MP for North Tongu also used the opportunity to debunk various accusations leveled against him. Ahead of the 2012 elections, stories circulated in the media that the then deputy Minister for Information owned fuel stations and houses in the U.S. He said the rumours caused him pain, "They were well coordinated". He said allegations ranged from his ownership of houses in Texas in the United States and shares in "Access bank, Sonitara construction company, and Prada Radio. They also said I have an helicopter". He explained that there was an Okudzeto in the oil business, which many misconstrued him to be that person. He explained: "Daniel Okudzeto who is my uncle has 17 years in petroleum business and owns Allied Oil". He also said he had no properties in Texas. He said "President Mills would not have tolerated me in one hour if I was engaged in corrupt practices." The Deputy minister designate preferred not to take action towards peddlers of these allegations, saying "I leave them to their conscience and the Almighty God". He answered several questions arranging from his days as a student leader to his role as a deputy Minister of Information.
