The Ghana Football Association(GFA) have contracted Michael Okyere to be the video analyst for the Black Stars at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.Okyere is expected to furnish the coach, players and management with detailed analytical reports of the strength and weaknesses of the side and its opponents before and after games in South Africa. He will be required, if necessary to have one-on-one sessions with players and the technical team on ways of improving their game and capitalizing on the opposition’s frailties. The Ghanaian who was trained at English club Manchester City succeeds Serbian Aleksandar Rosic who did a similar job for Black Stars at the last Nations Cup in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. The role of a video analyst has become important in modern day football as an emerging coaching specialty, where most of the elite clubs in the world have set up such departments to augment the efforts of the technical team.Okyere has already began work and traveled with the Black Stars team, for their pre-Nations Cup camp in Abu Dhabi. His inclusion in the Black Stars set up is the first benefit to be derived by the Ghana FA from the partnership agreement with English giants, Manchester City.
