Climaxing the 75th anniversary of Mawuli School in Ho, the Old Mawuli Students Union (OMSU) has hinted at introducing smart classrooms in their alma mater.
The initiative is geared towards introducing advanced teaching and learning methods which would play pivotal roles in producing technologically inclined students.
The President of the 2000-year batch Mawuli School, Divine Ackuaku, disclosed this at the handing over of the renovated White Block to the School's management.
“We were aiming to provide smart classrooms on the blocks, but the cost deterred us. So, this is not the end, we will surely work on that and ensure the school gets the logistics to become a smart model school”, he stressed.
White Block Legacy Project
Mr Ackuaku explained that the White Block was selected due to its iconic nature and the important role it played in the formative years of the majority of those who attended Mawuli School.

He said they intended to preserve the structure which holds an important part in the school’s history, hence mobilized funds to repair and restore the iconic White Block”, which was dilapidated at the time of their visit.
“Anybody who attends or attended Mawuli School knows about the iconic nature of the White Block. Not everybody studied in the classrooms on the block, but we all know of its distinctive features and contribution to Mawuli history. Due to this we decided to raise funds to inject into its renivation, transforming it into a magnificent building”, he stressed.
Specialty of Mawuli School
He identified instilling unity and selflessness as a distinct nature of Mawuli School, adding that it culminates in producing well-shaped human resources.
He added that this discipline culminated in their year batch adopting the motto “we are leaving no one behind” where they intend to pull all their mates along irrespective of societal status.
Mr Ackuaku asserted that the unity instilled in them was displayed during the anniversary resulting “in one of the biggest, if not the biggest” senior high school anniversaries in recent times.
“The unity that Mawuli places in you is the kind of orientation. If you look at what is happening at the 75th anniversary, it looks like religion, everybody is involved. Today is Sunday and the traffic is still not over, at other schools they would have left. So, it is what was instilled in us, that is the unity, is what is carrying us and that is so unique about Haviwo [Mawulians] he said.

The Chair of the Publicity Committee of the 2000-year batch, Anthony Bells Kafui Kanyi also emphasized the unity among the group which he said has resulted in the undertaking of the commemorative projects and “more to come in the coming years”.
He eulogized Mawuli School’s management commitment to provide holistic education as indicated by the school’s Motto the “Head, Heart and Hand”
“You can not come out of Mawuli and not be productive. That is so special about Mawuli. We talk about the oneness, the love for one another, and caring for society”, he added.
Acknowledgment
The Headmaster of Mawuli School, Benjamin Yaw Dei, lauded the initiative, acknowledging its contribution to improving academic activities on the campus.
He promised that the management would adopt the best maintenance practices to keep the building in good shape to ensure longevity and productivity.
“I assure you, we are going to keep it as such and it will always be clean and neat, and it will be used for the intended purposes", he said.
The 2000-year batch of Mawuli School, earlier donated items to the Ho Female prison to symbolize their commitment to social service as part of activities to commemorate their 25th anniversary of completing Mawuli School.
