Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has criticised Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC) for its justification of a decision to re-collate election results in nine constituencies.
The EC had earlier emphasised that the move was not without precedent, citing examples from the country’s electoral history.
In response, Dr Omane Boamah took to Facebook to express his dissatisfaction, describing the EC as "criminal," "incompetent," and "biased."
He argued that the EC’s reasoning failed to acknowledge that different Constitutional Instruments (C.I.s) have governed similar cases in the past, rendering their justification invalid.
The Facebook post read: “This criminal Electoral Commission is both incompetent and bias! They don't even know or refuse to appreciate that different Constitutional Instruments (C.I.s) have governed some of these cases evoked. Meanwhile, they've called for an emergency IPAC meeting after their mess.”
