One person has died and two others are in critical condition after an attack by armed robbers at Zebilla in the Bawku West district of the Upper East region.
Eyewitnesses told Joy News’ regional correspondent Albert Sore, in an interview, Saturday that four heavily built armed robbers successfully robbed a provision wholesale store owned by one Alhaji Muntari.
The robbers started firing into the crowd after an alarm was raised by the store attendants and nearby shop owners.
The attendants Abdulai Awudu and Abudu Abdulai have since been rushed to Zebilla District hospital and are receiving treatment.
The remains of the deceased who was hit by a stray bullet has been deposited at the Zebilla Hospital mortuary.
Unfortunately, the police were unable to get to the venue in time, so the robbers had gotten away.
Investigations have however begun into the incident.
