The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has announced a significant increase in online blackmail and sextortion cases.
According to the authority, some 226 cases have been recorded this year, resulting in a loss of GHS112,209.
In a statement sighted by JoyNews, the Cyber Security Authority explained that the perpetrators of these crimes usually initiate contact with unsuspecting victims on the numerous social media platforms.
They warned individuals to be vigilant and careful when engaging with strangers online.
