President John Mahama has asked the electorate to consider the party which party offers better policies and programmes for job creation as they cast their votes on December 7th.
He said that while education is paramount and deserves greater attention, job creation is another issue that the electorate must not take for granted.Addressing students at the Navrongo campus of the University for Development Studies, President Mahama explained that his party had concrete programmes and policies that would help create jobs for Ghana's youth.
He called on the students to vote massively for him so he could implement these plans and reverse the country's fortunes. The president added that his NDC administration is “creating additional skills acquisition programmes so that people who do not progress into the tertiary education can still acquire skills and find a job”.He announced efforts by his administration to open up the oil and gas industry so that it can accommodate more workers.“More importantly," he said, "we are creating an incubator for small and medium enterprises to resolve the challenges that face them here in Ghana, and that incubator is going to inject $100 million into the small and medium enterprise sector over the next four years. We have the Young Entrepreneurs’ Programme; we are starting it off with a seed capital of Gh¢10 million.”According to him, the NDC has drafted a more comprehensive manifesto than any of the other political parties.President Mahama urged the electorate to reject the NPP, saying that their free Senior High School is policy impracticable and that they have offered no other plans to substantially enhance Ghana's development. The president will end his Upper East Region campaign tour on Monday with a visit to Bawku and its surrounding villages.
