Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as "Napo," has resigned from his position as the Minister for Energy.
This decision comes after his nomination and confirmation as the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) running mate for the 2024 election this December.
The resignation aims to allow him to fully focus on his new role as the party strives to break the eight-year cycle.

In a statement issued by the presidency on Thursday, July 11, and signed by Communications Director Eugene Arhin, it said Dr Prempeh's resignation will take effect from Thursday, July 18.
The statement also noted that President Akufo-Addo has accepted his resignation and expressed his gratitude for his dedication and service to the government.
Dr Prempeh's departure marks a significant shift as he transitions to a key role in the NPP's campaign efforts, emphasising his commitment to the party's future success.
