Deputy Attorney General-designate, Dr Justice Srem-Sai, has explained that Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) is a long-term initiative of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government rather than a mere committee.
Speaking on JoyNews' Newsfile programme on Saturday, 15th February, he clarified that ORAL is designed as a sustained effort to retrieve misappropriated state funds and assets.
“This is not just another committee set up for show; ORAL is a long-term government project,” Dr Srem-Sai stated.
He explained that the initiative is structured to function beyond political cycles, ensuring that public resources unlawfully acquired are recovered regardless of who is in power.
According to him, the initiative demonstrates the government's strong commitment to fighting corruption and ensuring accountability.
ORAL, launched by the current NDC administration, seeks to track and reclaim state funds and properties allegedly looted by individuals and entities.
While some critics argue that the programme might be politically motivated, Dr Srem-Sai assured that it would be executed with fairness and due process.
“This is about justice and financial recovery, not political witch-hunting,” he stressed.
He further urged the public to support the initiative, stating that national development depends on the proper management and protection of public funds.
“The success of ORAL will benefit all Ghanaians, and we must work together to ensure it achieves its intended objectives,” he concluded.
