Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member, Winfred Kweku Palmer, has applauded the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on the appointment of Winfried Schäfer as the new technical advisor of the Black Stars.
The 75-year-old tactician, who guided Cameroon to victory in the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), was hired to augment the technical team headed by Otto Addo.
This follows the senior national team's six-match winless run in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
"The technical direction of the team has changed, but Winfried Schäfer is a good coach," Palmer said in an interview with Sporty FM.
"Even during our time, we had plans to bring him on board. A technically good coach remains technically good."
Up next for Ghana is the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in March against Chad and Madagascar.
