Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Vice President and the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 flagbearer, has urged his party to embrace all Ghanaians as it prepares for a political resurgence.
Speaking in the Volta Region on Thursday, 8 May, as part of the NPP’s ongoing Thank You Tour, Dr Bawumia emphasised unity and inclusivity as the cornerstones of the party’s revival strategy.
Addressing a gathering of party faithful at Hohoe, he reflected on the lessons of the December 2024 election defeat, noting that rebuilding trust would demand a broad tent approach.
“Our comeback requires having open arms to all,” he declared.
“We must reach out to every Ghanaian, regardless of region, religion or background, and prove that the NPP is a home for national progress, not narrow interests.”
Dr Bawumia went on to highlight specific measures designed to foster this inclusivity.
He proposed the formation of regional liaison committees tasked with engaging local stakeholders and channeling their concerns directly to the party’s policy-making bodies.
“These committees will ensure that every voice is heard and that our policies reflect the aspirations of all communities,” he explained.
He also stressed the importance of grassroots mobilisation, urging party members to intensify door-to-door outreach and to listen attentively to constituents’ needs.
Concluding his address, the flagbearer thanked Volta Region supporters for their resilience and urged them to become ambassadors of the new inclusive vision.
“With unity, humility and open arms, we will transform our setback into a powerful comeback,” he affirmed, as delegates responded with a standing ovation.
