Former Kumasi Mayor who served under the John Mahama administration, Kojo Bonsu says exhibiting firmness in Ghana while executing one's duties is often misrepresented as being disrespectful.
According to Mr. Bonsu, developing Kumasi is a very challenging task that demands firmness and requires leaders capable of withstanding pressure from all sides.
“To develop Kumasi you have to be very firm, and in our Ghanaian System if you are firm, people think you are disrespectful and all sorts of things.
“When I was in Kumasi, I believe I was very firm on things that I was doing, that is why I was able to achieve these things."
He extended his good wishes to the current Kumasi Mayor under the ticket of the New Patriotic Party, Osei Assibey Antwi urging him to be firm in order to contribute to the positive change started in Kumasi.
“We have a lot of challenges in Kumasi and the challenges that we have must be dealt with. Be very innovative, a great leader and somebody who will be able to take all the trouble that comes with Kumasi’s position and be very firm."
He further urged the people of Kumasi to allow the new administration to do their work while expressing gratitude to former President John Dramani Mahama for the opportunity to serve.
“I would like to thank the government that gave me the position as the Mayor of Kumasi to be able to do things for my native, Ashanti Region.
"It is all about good leadership and a visionary leader, the people that I worked with helped me, and especially my government, the John Mahama administration helped me achieve all these things that I did," he stated.
