The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, says that a vote for the party in the upcoming elections is a vote for a pair of experienced individuals with the ability to turn around the fortunes of the country.
According to Mr Mahama, his running-mate Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, possesses the requisite skills and expertise needed to complement his own and assist to build the "Ghana we want."
Speaking at the official outdooring ceremony of Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang on April 24, the flagbearer said that the scholar's credentials were evident in the various portfolios she has occupied and the success stories she has achieved.
He argued that in his administration, it would be a collaborative effort aimed at transforming the nation rather than a one-man administration.
“If we are to build the Ghana we want together then Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang is truly the Vice President Ghana is looking for.
"She will be a perfect complement in many ways, serving with dignity, courage, integrity, and grace. Under a Mahama-Naana Jane administration, the government will work harmoniously with a seamless bridge between the office of the President and the office of the Vice President.
“At the end of our four year tenure, the story that will be recounted will be our story. It will be a collective legacy built by the best human resources of our country, male and female.
“Naana brings a depth of knowledge and a legacy of leadership to our ticket…Under my administration she will have oversight among others of the education sector, the health sector, gender and social protection,” he said.
Although he acknowledged that some societal problems were dire, the former president reiterated that his team possessed the expertise to handle these issues.
“In these dire times when unemployment rates have risen astronomically and poverty is stalking our land, ours will be a pair of experienced individuals poised to work together to make the difference that Ghanaians deserve.
“I am happy to present to you my running mate and by the Grace of God and the votes of you my fellow citizens I am happy to present Ghana’s next Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang," he added.
