An O. A Zhongtong bus heading towards Accra from Tumu on Saturday morning caught fire.
Driver of the vehicle with registration number AS 8249-19, Richmond Anim narrated that he noticed smoke emanating from underneath the bus while on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
Sources say at this point, the bus was reaching a section of the road at Akim Fisher near Asiakwa junction.
Upon noticing this, the 52-year-old driver said he parked the bus on the shoulder of the road.
Not long after, the bus was engulfed by fire, he added. However, the over 40 passengers on board escaped with no casualties recorded.
The fire was doused by personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service from the Kibi Station.
