The Joyce Ababio College of Creative Design, now JACCD Design Institute Africa, celebrated its 28th graduation ceremony under the theme: "Art and Design”: A Catalyst for Diversity and Inclusiveness."
The ceremony witnessed the graduation of over 50 students from the institution's 2-year University of Cape Coast affiliated diploma program, one-year certificate program, and the 6-month short courses.
Family and friends of the graduands, faculty and staff of JACCD DIA, as well as international and local partners in the social inclusion ecosystem, attended the ceremony under the distinguished chair of Ambassador Edward Boateng.

This year's graduation was exceptional, with graduating students celebrating different designs in adaptive clothing. It marks one of the first instances where a creative university has championed this on a runway.
Speaking to the media, the President of JACCD DIA, Madam Joyce Ababio, expressed elation at such a day happening in the country. She applauded the supporters of her foundation, the Joyce Ababio Design Foundation, for assisting various differently-abled students in pursuing their lifelong ambitions of being creatives.

Ms. Ababio emphasized the need for both national and local authorities to support such initiatives as they support the global SDGs and provide lifelong opportunities for the differently-abled.
The Special Guest of Honor, Ambassador Edward Boateng, a firm advocate for entrepreneurship for differently-abled individuals, applauded JACCD DIA and the JADF for taking a huge and bold step to reduce stigmatization and discrimination.

In his speech, he reiterated the need to focus on creative skills that support individuals to be fully employed after graduation and called on other companies to support such initiatives.
Other dignitaries that supported the occasion included CEO of Ghana Tourist Board, Mr. Akwasi Agyeman, Prof. Douglas Boateng, Afi Antonio, Bri Wiredu, the President of the Center for Employment of Persons With Disability, Mr. Tetter, and officers of Sightsavers.

Two students, Yaa Pimpim and Mavis Delilai Dakey, were presented with the Excellent Students Awards for their conceptualization, critical thinking, designs, and overall performance in the school.
Other students were recognized for their performances as well.

The student council was inducted into office by the registrar, who urged them to seek and ensure the students' welfare and provide avenues for collaboration and engagement.
The event concluded with awards and citations given to three faculty members for their long service, dedication, and commitment to the course of the institution's 28 years of existence.
Madam Eleanor Ashittey, Abigial Smith, and Frank Quartey, all from the art and design department, pledged their continual support to the institution.
Several invited individuals and companies that graced the occasion included the Sightsavers Association, Rotary Club, World Vision, UNDP, Association of Disabled People in Ghana, Bri Wiredu, Afi Antonio, Ambe Petoline Bih, 3rd Deputy Mayor Of Bafut Council - Northwest Region Of Cameroon, and other personalities who are advocates for social inclusion and adaptability.
