The Western Regional Command of the Motor Transport and Traffic Unit of the Ghana Police Service has traced the owner of the articulated truck, that ran over four school kids and a woman, killing them instantly in Takoradi.
The regional police command says it was able to retrieve the documents of the vehicle and the driving license of the driver when the truck was abandoned after the sordid incident.
The Regional MTTU Commander, DSP Daniel Gyaka, told Asempa News that the owner of the truck is now assisting the police in their investigations.
Four school children and a woman were killed when the articulated truck ran over them as they crossed the road in Takoradi Thursday afternoon.
Three other children are in critical conditions - two are on admission at the Efia-Nkwanta Hospital while the third is at the Kwesimintsim Polyclinic.
The accident occurred at a zebrah crossing near the Nkrumah Circle on the Kwesimintsim road.
DSP Gyaka added that his Command and the Western Regional Minister, Paul Evans Aidoo, are visiting the accident scene and will proceed to the family of the deceased, to console them.
