The former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General, Papa Owusu Ankomah, has dismissed allegations that he has been arrested by the criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service.
“I heard on air and from the newspapers that I have been arrested which made friends call me on phone - but it is not true.”
Although he denied the allegation, he disclosed to Peace FM that he was invited to the CID headquarters to answer questions bordering on Ghana International Airlines (GIA) which his former Ministry used to serve.
However, he did not reveal the exact questions he was asked, saying “as a lawyer I know how and when it’s appropriate to reveal everything to you”.
Clearing the air on the alleged issue of being arrested, he said “I have not been arrested, neither am I the subject of the investigation - I was just invited to answer questions concerning Ghana International Airlines. He added that, he saw nothing wrong with the CID inviting him.
According to him, it shows that although his Party is not in power, his contributions are needed for the development of this country.
The former Minister was speaking in reaction to a report by "The Moment” newspaper that Papa Owusu Ankomah was arrested and subjected to interrogation by a high-powered panel of top-notch police officers on Thursday.
He told his friends and party faithfuls not to worry since he went there with his lawyer.
