The founder and leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministry International has thanked the National Chief Imam for his swift action to forestall peace when his church was vandalised recently. 

Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah said he considers Sheik Osman Nuru Sharubutu as his father for the love shown him after a prophecy during his December 31 church service suggesting he will die this year.

Speaking at a meeting at the National Chief Imam’s Fadama residence in Accra Thursday, he said that but for his timely intervention, the issue would have taken another twist which could lead to harm and destruction.

Irate youth, armed with machetes, stormed Rev. Owusu Bempah’s property after he prophesied that some key leaders in Ghana including the National Chief Imam will die in 2019.

The group streamed the attack live on Facebook. They damaged the property and razed to the ground a billboard with Rev Owusu-Bempah’s image.

The youth threatened to do worse if the man of God fails to apologise but rescinded their decision when the National Chief Imam appealed for calm.

He called on those incensed by the prophecy to forgive the pastor.

Rev. Owusu Bempah expressed gratitude to the Chief Imam for the role he played in averting a crisis.

He promised he and his team will find another time to visit the National Chief Imam to further strengthen the relationship between them.

The Chair of the National Chief Imam’s Advisory Board, Gado Mohammed thanked the pastor for showing interest in maintaining the peace that has long existed between the two faiths. 

“Muslims and Christians all have faith in God that is why they are referred to as faith people...the peace that we have had in this country is not anything like others have had in many other countries.

“This is because the two faiths are at peace with each other and we should not take it for granted. We have worked for it,” he said.  

Mr Gado said they have gone to conferences with Christian leaders on behalf of the National Chief Imam all aimed at fostering peace and urged no one to take that for granted.   

He thanked Rev Owusu Bempah for coming to see the National Chief Imam in the name of peace. 

He apologised on behalf of the youth who vandalised the pastor’s property and caused anxiety among worshippers.
