The people of Oyibi in the Kpone-Katamanso Traditional Area of the Greater Accra Region on Thursday undertook a clean-up exercise to improve sanitation in the area.
The three-hour exercise which was led by their newly-installed chief, Nii Boye Okansha VI saw the people clearing weeds, desilting choked gutters and filling potholes.
Nii Okansha in an address after the exercise thanked the people for their communal spirit and asked them to keep it up.
He asked them to unite and fight for a common goal since without unity, no town could be developed.
The newly-installed chief also advised them to do away with chieftaincy disputes which, he said, would draw back the development of the town.
On the unemployment situation which is facing the town, he said he was going to negotiate with some Non-Governmental Organizations to open up some small scale industries in the town.
He appealed to the government to establish more schools for the community to ease the enrollment situation in the area.
Mr. Hopeson Adoye, Assemblyman for Oyibi said the exercise was not going to be a nine-day wonder but would be a weekly affair.
He appealed to the Tema Municipal Assembly (TMA) to provide electricity for the town's clinic and also help them solve the erosion problem which had been a source of worry anytime it rained.
