The Paramount Chief of Paga Traditional Area in the Kassena-Nankana District, Pe Charles Awampaga II has pledged that he and his elders were prepared to offer lands for Africans in the Diaspora to establish and invest at Paga.
Speaking at this year's Emancipation Day celebrations at Paga, Pe Awampaga said the event should be celebrated in Northern Ghana where slave trade began and not at exit points down south only.
He said the Paga traditional area had tourist attractions, and cited the slave sites and crocodile ponds, as rare tourist facilities located in the area.
As part of the activities for the celebration, the chief lighted a flame to symbolise the re-unification with Africans in Diaspora and their counterparts in Ghana.
He urged Africans living elsewhere to return and invest on the continent.
In a speech read for him, the Kassena-Nankana District Chief Executive (DCE), Emmanuel Chegeweh reiterated the need for Africans in the Diaspora to invest in the African Continent so as to help their brothers and sisters.
"We have a lot of personalities of African descent who have made a mark in the field of science, education, business, sports and politics. This has made the black race an enviable one and what is left for you Africans in the Diaspora is to influence and to impact positively on the African continent for its socio-economic improvement."
The DCE appealed to African leaders to create the necessary environment for Africans in the Diaspora to return and stay.
