Sarah Palin's daughter has got engaged to her ex fiance and father of her child - without the consent of her mother. Bristol Palin, 19, and Levi Johnston, 20, announced their wedding plans in an interview with Us Magazine. It will have come as a shock to the former Republican vice presidential candidate. The pair had not informed her of their forthcoming nuptials. "We got engaged two weeks ago," Bristol revealed. "It felt right, even though we don't have the approval of our parents." The young couple famously called off their previous engagement two weeks after the birth of their son Tripp in December 2008. Following the break-up, politician Palin and Johnston publicly traded insults in the media. In an interview with Vanity Fair in 2009, Johnston criticised her job as Alaska's governor and her parenting skills. Recently though Johnston apologised to the Palin family for his comments, admitting some of the claims were "not completely true". In the Us magazine interview Bristol said she was nervous about breaking news of the engagementto her mother. "It is intimidating and scary just to think about what her reaction is going to be. "Hopefully, she will jump on board," she added. After eventually finding out about the enagagment (allegedly not from Bristol) Todd and Sarah Palin released this statement. "Bristol at 19 is now a young adult. We obviously want what's best for our children. "Bristol believes in redemption and forgiveness to a degree most of us struggle to put in practice in our daily lives." The young couple told Us magazine that they reconnected three months ago while working out a custody plan for their 18-month-old son. Earlier, this month Bristol made her acting debut in ABC's The Secret Life Of The American Teenager. Source: Sky News
