Palm wine tappers in the Ashanti Region are outraged with what they say is a derogatory remark made by the newly-elected General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party.Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie also known as Sir John is quoted to have said that at the time he was in the University of Ghana pursuing his law education, his counterpart from the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah was tapping palm wine in the village. His comments were a retort to remarks by Johnson Asiedu Nketiah early on who said that the newly elected executives of the NPP were incapable of winning District Assembly elections.Sir John’s response appeared not to have gone down well with palm wine tappers who accuse him of looking down upon them.A spokesperson of the group in an interview with Joy News demanded an immediate apology from the NPP scribe.Source: Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
