The Paramount Chief of Bole Traditional Area, Bolewura Amankuah Gbehese II, has commended President John Agyekum Kufuor and the NPP Government for continuous support and efforts to improve on the lifestyles of Ghanaians. This was contained in his speech delivered during the inauguration of two Metro Mass Transport buses released to Bole by the government to alleviate the acute transport problem facing the people especially government heads of department who wish to travel to the regional capital Tamale, to transact their official businesses. The Bolewura, noted with concern the immense development of the area, initiated by the government in the form of good roads, water, electricity, classrooms, and other health facilities, and even the Youth Employment Programme, which he said had come to provide employment to the youth, all by the government within its short stay in office. The chief said all these had brought relief to the people and thanked the government for work so far done on the Bole-Bamboi road, which was almost complete and appealed for the early award on contract of the Sawla-Fufulso road, which will not only link Wa the Upper West Regional capital to that of the Northern Regional capital, but facilitate movement of tourists to the Mole National Park. He gave the assurance of maximum support and cooperation for the government to ensure the smooth operation of the buses in the area. The District Chief Executive, Madam Elizabeth Salamatu Forgor, also thanked the Metro Mass Transport and the government for the prompt release of the two buses to offset the acute transport problem facing the area, especially workers mostly government heads of departments. She appealed to the people to patronise the buses and to pay their fares, which she said was heavily, subsidized as compared to the private transport to enable the Metro Mass Transport generate enough revenue to meet the cost of running the buses. The Regional Manager of the Metro Mass Transport, Mr Malik Abraham, also urged the people to pay their fares promptly and to insist on their tickets to ensure that the money they paid did not get into individual pockets.Source: GNA
