The Parliamentary Select Committee on Health is set to begin a comprehensive four-day tour of regional and teaching hospitals across Ghana, from Tuesday, April 22, to Friday, April 25, 2025.
This strategic initiative aims to assess the current state of healthcare infrastructure, identify pressing challenges, and develop actionable solutions to improve healthcare delivery nationwide.
In a press statement issued by Parliament on Monday, April 21, the tour will be carried out in three teams, each assigned to specific hospitals across various regions.
It said Team One will visit the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital, Nalerigu Regional Hospital, Tamale Teaching Hospital, Tamale Regional Hospital, and Wa Regional Hospital.
Team Two is tasked with visiting the Damongo Regional Hospital, Techiman Regional Hospital, Sunyani Regional Hospital, and Goaso Regional Hospital.
Team Three will tour the Kumasi Regional Hospital, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Koforidua Regional Hospital, Ho Regional Hospital, Ho Teaching Hospital, and the Greater Accra Regional Hospital.
The purpose of this extensive tour is to gain first-hand insight into the operations, conditions, and challenges of these vital healthcare institutions.
The statement further said Members of Parliament (MPs) will interact directly with health practitioners and management teams to better understand the realities on the ground, including resource limitations, infrastructure needs, and workforce concerns.
In line with the Committee’s mandate, the findings will be used to guide policy recommendations that promote efficient, accessible, and quality healthcare for all Ghanaians.
The Committee is calling on stakeholders, health workers, and hospital administrators to actively engage with the visiting teams and share valuable insights that could contribute to long-term improvements in Ghana’s healthcare system.
As the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health continues its oversight work, this initiative reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that every citizen has access to a robust and responsive healthcare system.
