Parliament’s subsidiary legislation committee is today expected to table its report on the controversial CI 78 for consideration by the house. The constitutional instrument for the legalization of the 45 new constituencies automatically matures into law early October if no issues are raised about it.But there are hints the committee will recommend it be withdrawn a third time because it is still fraught with errors. On Thursday, the chairman of the committee and MP for Nsuta–Kwarmang Beposo, Osei Kwame Prempeh, accused Majority Leader Cletus Avoka of deliberately holding on to the report so the CI could pass without a challenge.Meanwhile, the refusal of Members of Parliament to comment on media reports that their salaries have been adjusted from 3,000 to up to GHS 7,200 a month is in protest of the leak. Those Joy News spoke to will simply not say a word about the matter. News is rife that what should be the MPs new pay takes retrospective effect from January 2009.Late President John Mills earlier in the year ordered an adjustment in their pay following recommendations by the Professor Ewurama Addy Committee set up in June 2010 to review the Conditions of Service of Article 71 office holders.
