The Awutu Beraku District Magistrate's Court in the Central Region presided over by Mr C.A. Wilson, has ordered the arrest of Pastor Aboagye for conniving with an ex-convict to steal 16 goats at Gomoa Dominase.
Aboagye, now on the run reportedly conspired with his accomplice and stole the goats but escaped when the police advanced on them, leaving behind his accomplice, Kojo Ahor.
Ahor on his subsequent appearance before the court, on charges of abetment and stealing, was convicted on his own plea of guilty and imprisoned for two years with hard labour on each count to run concurrently.
According to the prosecution, on October 13, 2007, information reached the Watchdog Committee members of Dominase that somebody was giving a goat to Aboagye to rear at Nsuaem. When the committee members went to investigate, they were told that it was the local assemblyman who had ceased rearing his goats at Dominase and was sending the goats to Nsuaem through Ahor of Dominase to. Aboagye at Nsuaem.
The committee members then contacted the assemblyman who denied any such transaction and asked the committee members to investigate further.
The committee members relayed the information to the police who joined the committee members in their investigations.
Soon they spotted Ahor and Aboagye conveying their booty towards Nsuaem in the night.
When the patrol men swooped on the two, Aboagye managed to escape arrest, leaving Ahor who was arrested.
He quoted Ahor as having stated on arrest that he stole the goats from Dominase and sent them to Pastor Aboagye at Nsuaem and that he later stole seven more goats all totaling 16, worth ¢16 million belonging to one Nana Entsie.
The prosecutor said that five of the stolen goats had been retrieved.
