President John Dramani Mahama has said there would still be peace in the country after the Supreme Court ruling on the 2012 Election Petition.
He said God had blessed Ghana with peace and that nothing was going to take away that blessing from Ghanaians.
“The country has been blessed with peace and what God has blessed no man can curse; we should be rest assured that peace is going to be the winner in Ghana,” the President said.
President Mahama said that in a speech read on his behalf by Ms Helen Adjoa Ntoso, the Eastern Regional Minister, on Sunday during the Centenary Anniversary celebration of the Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic Church at Adoagyiri near Nsawam.
He said to maintain the peace Ghanaians would only need to rise above parochial partisan interests and promote the welfare of the nation by exhibiting responsible attitudes and behaviour.
President Mahama urged all Ghanaians to continue to live in unity and in love no matter which side the final verdict would go, adding that it is God who makes a King.
Most Reverend Joseph Afrifa-Agyekum, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Koforidua, appealed to Ghanaians, especially Christians, to refrain from social evils such as corruption, bribery, greed, political intolerance and backbiting.
He said filth had engulfed the nation due to the irresponsible behavior of some Ghanaians and urged all to be agents of positive behavioral and attitudinal change to ensure a better Ghana for the next generation.
Okoanadwo Afutu Dompreh II, Chief of Adoagyiri and Ankobeahene of Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area, said he was grateful to the Catholic Church at Adoagyiri for its immense contribution to the development of the community.
He said the establishment of educational institutions, health, vocational and social centers by the church in the area had improved the standard of living.
