Firemen have successfully controlled the fire which gutted parts of the Pedestrian Shopping Mall at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra.
The Wednesday evening fire consumed ten shops, fire personnel told Joy News' Anny Osabutey. But eye witnesses feared more shops had been affected.
The fire was said to have started around 7:30 pm. The cause is still unknown.
Heartbroken victims were loud in tears, mourning over lost properties while fire personnel desperately attempted to put out the fire.
Some of the victims were reported to be in shock, largely because the market had been locked with all traders driven out.
They were unsure what must have triggered the outbreak.
This is the second fire to hit that market within the past few months.
The fire personnel say they will investigate to ascertain the cause soon.
