PETROSOL Platinum Energy Ltd (formerly PETROSOL Ghana Ltd), one of Ghana’s leading oil marketing companies, marked its 10th anniversary with a grand celebration at its Spintex Road Service Station, Accra.
The milestone event, which underscored PETROSOL's decade-long commitment to excellence and innovation, was graced by the Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, as the Guest of Honour.
In a compelling address, Mr. Michael Bozumbil, Chief Executive Officer of PETROSOL Platinum Energy Ltd, reflected on the company’s remarkable journey from its humble beginnings as an OMC in 2014 to becoming a trusted and respected brand with a network of 115 service stations across the country.
“When we started, we had limited financial resources but a strong network and reputation within the industry, which we leveraged to grow. Our aim was to build a brand that exemplified excellence in the oil and gas industry, despite the daunting challenges ahead,” Mr. Bozumbil stated.
Over the past decade, PETROSOL has successfully navigated significant industry challenges, including intense price competition and economic downturns. The company has emerged stronger, earning a reputation for quality, regulatory compliance, and a commitment to sustainable job creation.
PETROSOL has been particularly noted for empowering female staff through progressive policies, launching the PETROSOL Women Network, and implementing family-focused initiatives.
PETROSOL’s journey has been marked by several key achievements, which Mr. Bozumbil highlighted in his address including;
- Exemplary Tax Compliance: PETROSOL has contributed over GHS 1.2 billion in petroleum taxes to date, reflecting its commitment to national development.
- Triple ISO Certification: The company has earned international certification for its quality management systems; occupational health and safety management system, and environmental management system, underscoring its dedication to excellence.
- Investment in Diversity and Inclusion: Through the PETROSOL Women Network, the company has championed gender equality and supported the professional growth of its female employees, leading to the company being adjudged the best in Championing Diversity & Inclusion at the Women in Mining & Energy Awards last year.
Reflecting on the lessons learnt over the past decade, Mr. Bozumbil emphasized the importance of maintaining a godly purpose, which has been central to PETROSOL's journey.
He underscored the value of prioritizing quality in decision-making, noting that the company’s reputation and credibility have been invaluable assets driving its growth. Strong relationships with customers, partners, and employees have served as crucial enablers, while a commitment to continuous improvement has kept PETROSOL resilient and innovative.
Financial discipline, he added, has been a cornerstone of the company’s strategy, ensuring steady growth and long-term success. These guiding principles, Mr. Bozumbil affirmed, will continue to steer PETROSOL as it embarks on its next chapter.
In his closing remarks Mr. Bozumbil expressed deep gratitude to all stakeholders who have supported PETROSOL over the years, including the NPA, customers, and employees. He singled out Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid for his leadership in sanitizing the industry, which has been instrumental in PETROSOL’s survival and growth.
He said, looking ahead, PETROSOL was poised to begin its next chapter with a bold vision. The company has repositioned itself as an energy brand, ready to embrace emerging trends in the energy sector. PETROSOL’s future goals include becoming more caring, innovative, and globally focused while continuing to energize the dreams and aspirations of its stakeholders.
“The next decade of PETROSOL has just begun,” Mr. Bozumbil declared.
“We are committed to being more caring and purpose-driven, more energizing and empowering, more innovative and futuristic, more trusted, and financially resilient. The anniversary celebration serves not just as a reflection on the past but as an indication of its preparedness to tackle future challenges and seize new opportunities. With a steadfast commitment to innovation and excellence, PETROSOL’s journey of growth and leadership is poised to continue, firmly establishing its role as an empowering and trusted partner in the energy industry."
The Chief Executive of NPA, Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid was full of praise for PETROSOL for its exemplary conduct in the industry.
He said PETROSOL’s high ethical conduct and commitment to excellence made the company stand out as a model of excellence. He therefore wished the company well in its next phase as an energy company.
